Our flooring is manufactured from Western Australian hardwoods and is available in Jarrah, Karri or Marri.
Jarrah (Eucalyptus Marginata) is a beautiful and durable hardwood unique to Western Australia's south-west forests. Jarrah is known for its stunning natural tones ranging from a rich reddish brown to a soft salmon pink depending on the age of the wood. Jarrah continues to mature even after it has been machined, with the colour becoming deeper and darker with age and exposure to sunlight. If left untreated in the elements, jarrah will weather to a soft silvery grey.
Karri (Eucalyptus Diversicolor) is one of the world's tallest hardwoods. Karri is extremely durable with an interlocked and straight grain and also unique to Western Australia's south-west. Karri comes in a range of earthy tones, ranging from deep reddish brown to pale pink depending on the age of the wood. Karri continues to mature after it has been sawn with finished products darkening in colour with age and exposure to sunlight. Just like jarrah surfaces left outdoors will weather to a solft silvery grey.
Marri (Corymbia Calophylla) is a medium sized hardwood that grows amongst jarrah and karri trees in Western Australia's south -west. Very durable and hard wearing and comes in soft tones of cream and pale gold to light brown depending on the age of the wood. Marri is characterised by extensive gum veins.
Hamilton Sawmills is supplied with timber from our sister company Whittakers Timber Products where their logs are harvested and sourced from sustainably managed forests by the Western Australian Government's agency, the Forest Products Commission (FPC).
